Finally, NYX in Taman Anggrek!

About two days ago, I was wandering around in Matahari Department Store in Taman Anggrek and I saw this NYX logo and an empty counter. I was really really excited knowing that NYX was about to open in Taman Anggrek (the closest shopping mall from my apartment)!!

So today, I came back to Matahari, only to see if the counter's open yet. And it is!!! Ooh.. just when I needed a new (and affordable, of course) pink blush and lipstick!!! And even cooler, when I got there, all of testers are still new and smooth. The Beauty Assistant had to convince me over and over, "Yes, these are testers. It's okay, you can touch them." Hahaha...

And this is my small haul:
  • NYX Chrome Eyeshadow in 33 Lagoon
  • NYX Blush in PB05 Pinky
  • NYX Goddess of The Night (Lipgloss with Mega Shine) in 113 French Kiss
And I got this NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil in 921 Baby Blue for free!

My First MAC

After doing a lot of thinking, well, for weeks, I went to the mall last Sunday and bought my first MAC products. Ooh.. I'm so happy, I almost cry!

I was aiming for the foundation, compact powder and the 187 brush. I went to the counter and, thankfully, this lovely Make Up Artist was a really big help. I told her that I'm a rookie and I'm looking for Studio Fix. And she really took her time and showed me all the possible shades for me. I said, I was here before and tried the NC40 and NC 42, and I thought NC40 was the right shades for me. She asked me to sit in front of this huge mirror in the counter and brought NC40 and NC37. Then, she applied the NC40 on my chin. I could really see the yellow shade on my chin.. haha.. and she said that it looked so unnatural. So she removed it and applied the NC37 with the NC40 compact powder. She even offered me to try the NW35 with the NC40 compact powder to compare and she applied it along my jawline. Got confused, I told her I can't really make a decision right at that time because, although these two look natural on my skin, they might give different result under different lighting. So.. once again the MUA being so nice, she told me to go and walk around the mall and come back after I can really decide which shade is the right one for me. So I took a while wandering around the mall and came back after decided to take the NC37.

After finally made a decision about the foundation and the compact, I was still thinking about buying the 187 brush. Boy, that is one pricey brush! Once again, the MUA helped me by showing a collection of limited edition brushes. With this limited edition brushes, I got the 187 and 190, for foundation (and blush and bronzer..), the 194 for applying concealer and the 168 for contouring in one package. She honestly said that these brushes aren't the first quality, more like one level under the actual brushes. But it's still under MAC and it's enough if I'm just gonna use them for individual needs. I thought it was a pretty good deal, so I bought it!

My Studio Fix Fluid in NC37

Studio Fix in NC40

The Limited Edition Brushes
oohh.. so cute.. It comes with two pouches, the big one and the small one
You can see I already used them.. :D

Christian Dior - Fall / Winter 2008 Runway Look

Close enough? Haha..

I know, this is a last year look. I saw the pictures in my friend's magazine, like, months ago. Since I'm not really into designers and runway walk and stuff, I didn't really notice about the designer but the makeup really caught my eyes. Those models looked as if they have such big eyes. And with big hair, they really looked like a doll.

So I was browsing the internet and I found pictures of the models from Christian Dior's show for Fashion Week. So I thought I'd give it a try. I don't have a white eyeshadow that really thick and pigmented. Besides, on my medium skin tone, even the brightest color will look warmer. That's why I used white eyeliner, that'll give thicker coverage, rather than white eyeshadow.

Too bad I could only do this look on one eye, because I only have one set of fake eyelash. I used that as my upper and lower eyelash..

Some tips:
  1. Use thicker eyelashes to really imitates the look.. I don't have any, so I just use what I got
  2. Apply the lower eyelash under your real eyelash.. By the way, this is a very good idea if you wanna make you eyes look bigger
  3. This isn't a daily look.. Don't use this unless you're gonna walk on a runway, or you're going to a Halloween party or.. you're doing a tutorial.. haha..

A Sucker for Eyeshadow?

After a lot of Maybellines that I got a few days before, I still can't control myself not to buy another makeup stuff.

I told you how I'm trying to create a look to match my birthday dress, and I have a light green look in my mind. The problem is, I don't have a light green eyeshadow.. Yes, my makeup collections are not that much! Anyway, I was wandering around at the mall (with no intention to shop, please note!) when I saw this PAC counter. And I thought, "Hey, let's just drop by and take a look around."

But, everything didn't go according to the plan. Because I saw this beautiful kinda green-ish yellow single eyeshadow, and I fell in love. And also a shimmery blue eyeshadow. I tried to swatched those colors on my hand, and they looked even more beautiful. Hiks. This lovely beauty assistant told me that they're out of those products right now. But.. they have those two colors in one of those eyeshadow quad palette. That way, I got the colors that I wanted, plus two others. So, I bought it!

And this is what I got:

A Rainbow Chic palette. You see, they have red, yellow and green, for the rainbow, I guess. And the blue one as the sky. You can get this palette for only Rp 100.000

And here are the swatches:

Oh, so pretty colors.. I think the red one is kinda hideous. I'm not very excited about it either. But I love love love the rest.

And I love it even more, because I already got three eye makeup looks, using this palette. Well, combined with other color and I didn't use the red one at all. And I did the look for my birthday! Yippie! I really wanted to post the looks I did before as tutorials, unfortunately my camera batteries are out of power and I can't find my charger! But we can do that later, can we?

My Birthday Dress

My birthday is coming and I'm about to celebrate it with my family.

So, my mom bought me a dress for me to wear on my birthday.. mm.. lunch. I picked that at the mall. It's from a local designer, Widhi Budimulya. I've been drooling over his collections since forever! Actually, I'm craving for the long dresses. They're so beautiful. But, since I'm looking for a dress that I'm going to wear for a simple lunch, I don't think a long dress is the answer.

Luckily, Metro Department Store is having a Big Sale and Widhi Budimulya's collections are on sale. Yippie! So, this is the dress:

I really love the soft color. But I still have a problem, though:
Taadaa....!!!

Haha.. the zipper is stuck there. But, no need to worry because the department store gave the designer's address where I can alter this dress for free. They said, it'll takes only three days. So I have to bring this dress there all by myself cause they have to take my measurement.

And another thing I need to do next is to create a look that'll match this dress. Wish me luck!

[Tutorial] Light Smokey Eyes

My first tutorial.. Yay!

Actually, this is a very common look, it's a smokey eye look, only lighter. I don't know why but somehow, people just can't get enough of smokey eyes. I call this look as "light" cause I wont be using a lot of black.

For this look, I'm using:
  • light grey e/s - Estee Lauder palette, Warm Effects
  • medium grey e/s - Estee Lauder palette, Warm Effects
  • black e/s - Maybelline Eyeshadow Palette MX-4 Venice Carnaval
  • cream colored e/s - Inez 05 Venice
  • pencil and liquid eyeliner - Revlon
  • eyebrow pencil - Revlon
  • black mascara - Maybelline Unstoppable Curly Extension
Remember that you don't have to use the exact same products with me. If you have another brand with pretty much same color, that'll work too.

Step 1: Take light grey e/s and apply it all over eyelid
Step 2: Apply medium grey e/s (I have to name the e/s by color cause there's no actual name for each color in this palette) all over the crease, just under the browbone

Step 3: Take black e/s to make an "outer V" in the outer corner of the eye
So, those three steps are pretty much the basic steps. How thick the black e/s is actually up to you but don't forget to blend the e/s, especially the "outer V", until you see no harsh line.

Step 4: Once you're done blending, take a cream e/s and sweep it just under your brow as a highlight. Apply the same color in the inner corner of your eyes, just near the tear duct. After you finished Step 4, apply eyeliner on all over your upper lash line and outer half of your lower lash line. Curl your lashes and add black mascara.

And the final look:

Have fun playing with your make up!

By the way, this is me playing around with my Window Movie Maker. I just found out that I have this program in my computer. It was kinda confusing at first but it turned out to be real fun. Especially the narrating part! Anyway, this is just a pictures compilation. It's kinda impossible to upload an animated video with a super slow internet connection like mine. Well, this is not good enough. But I think it's not bad for a beginner, well, a first-timer, like me... Haha..

All That MakeUp

Finally.. My make up blog...

This is the place where I'm going to post everything about make up. Product review, make up tips, make up collections, make up look ideas or tutorials and since I'm a big fan of youtube make up tutorial, I think I'll try to recreate those looks and post it here. Everything make up related.

I gotta say that I'm no pro. The only reason I created this blog is because I love doing make up, and that's it. I'm still learning about all of this stuff, and I hope this blog could be a place for everyone to learn together with me.

Hope you enjoy my entries!
